During the summer, air conditioning feels so good. Some nice, cool, fresh air feels good too. While you do not want to shut off your AC in the middle of a sweltering summer day, there are still ways to bring a fresh breeze into your home during this season.
Throughout the Midwest, the weather cools down significantly in the late afternoon and early evening in many areas. If you have a screen door, then you can shut off the air and open your door to feel a good breeze. The screen door also keeps bugs out of your house, which is always a benefit! Make sure you turn on your ceiling fan to help circulate the fresh, cool air around the room
You may also try leaving the air off at night and sleeping with a bedroom window open. When you do this, you can close your windows in the morning to trap the cool air from the night in your house. Then, when you turn your AC back on, it will not have to work that hard to cool down your house thanks to the cold air that flowed in during the night. Again, be sure to leave a ceiling fan on to circulate the breeze and keep you nice and comfy.
