Summer is just a few weeks away. Though it seems impossible to think about, air-conditioning days are on their way whether we like it or not! Now is the time to make sure your HVAC unit is ready for summer. We put together a summer HVAC checklist to make it easier for you to get everything done!
Change the filters
As we mentioned previously, dirty air filters are hard on your HVAC unit and your lungs. Most modern thermostats tell you when it is time to change the filters, but before the hot weather hits and stays, you might want to go ahead and change the filters anyway. Be sure to reset the filter reminder on your thermostat so you can be prepared for the next switch!
Clean vents
We do not often pay attention to air vents. As long as we feel the air coming out of them, then that’s all we need to know! However, dirty vents can affect your indoor air quality just as much as filthy air filters can. If they are on the floor, then they can also accumulate dirt as well. As you switch the air filters, go ahead and wash & rinse the vents as well.
Check the programmed temperature
If you recently purchased a new thermostat, then make sure your desired temperatures are programmed. The fantastic thing about programmable thermostats is you can have your air run less during the times when you are not home, and more often for when you are. They help you save money, so before you start using the HVAC unit heavily again, make sure everything is set just the way you like it. If you didn’t get a new thermostat, then double-check the settings to be sure you still want the previous temperatures for certain times.
By completing this summer HVAC checklist soon, you can worry less once the cooling season kicks in. If you have any questions about what else you may need to complete before summer starts, then call us and ask away. We are happy to help, and together we will make sure you are set for the summer and beyond!
